Letter to Collins Orchestra 

 

Dear Collins Orchestra Family,  

 

I hope that this letter finds you healthy and well, and that you have all had a nice summer. I know that we find ourselves in a time of uncertainty, and we all just want answers now. Unfortunately, I do not have all of the answers but I will let you know what answers I do have:

 

• First, and most importantly, everyone who wants to be in orchestra can be, regardless of how you choose to attend school. I am committed to teaching you whether you choose to attend school in person, once we do return, or online.

• Once we do open, in order to distance ourselves in the orchestra class, chairs will be placed at a safe distance from each other. We will also not be sharing stands or music. Therefore, it is vital that all students have their required supplies for class. Cello and bass players will be assigned to a specific instrument and bow. Instruments, bows, stands and chairs will be sanitized after each class.  

 

• All students and staff will be asked to wear a mask in the orchestra classroom. We will do our best to spread out as much as possible, but masks will still be an important part of our classroom procedures. Anyone entering the classroom will be asked to use hand sanitizer. 

 

This year is going to be challenging, there is no doubt about that. However, I truly believe that we can accomplish great things this year. I challenge you all to embrace what is, and I am looking forward to exploring the educational opportunities we would not have had, if this was a normal year.
